Choosing the life partner.

Oxford says:

Partner – a person who takes part in an undertaking  with another or others , especially in a business or firm with shared risks and profits.

Do we choose our business partner in a hurry, in one meeting, at first sight or recommendation?. Why do we not take enough pains when choosing the lifemate? A person is not complete, till he finds a complementing mate, from opposite sex, who understands, kisses, loves, shares everyday joys, emotions, sorrows, happenings to contribute for solace, comfort, inspiration.

Tulsi, Rama, Krishna, Ganesha, Buddha, their mates supported them 100%. Gandhi shared everything with Kasturba. Nehru’s wife Kamla or Indira’s husband Firoz are not popular. Krishna’s Rukmani is not known as much as Radha. Their attraction admiration towards each other was so divine, many consider them married.

We can’t forget the role of physical appearance or biological needs, in relationships. It is rare that a man of 50kgs will live happily with a woman of 150kgs. Beauty is not in the object but in beholder’s mind. Marriages of minds or more successful than of bodies.

Boy meets a girl (or vise versa), have attraction, communicate, meet (depends on culture), may have physical relationship and decide to marry. Some, like me, take instant decision, others may need time, learn more about their mate, before committing for life. Most matches study horoscope, analyze income, education, family background, house, assets, career, hobby, habit, appearance (even walk), but forget the most important factor, of fertility test.

I sincerely believe that the mates should spend enough time, together, even in bed, to know each other resulting in lesser post marital problems. No one should take decision under pressure or in haste because it is  concern for life. Two people, so different from each other, different religion, culture or background become so intimate. If they do not have 100% understanding or concern for their individuality, there could be problems later.

Daily we read or know of differences between couples, fights, arguments, divorces, suicides, murders on various issues including dowry, division of work, dissatisfaction, loss of mutual respect or love. I wonder where romance or love flies, after marriage. We live only once. Marriages too should happen once. All say, marriages are made in heaven. Why do we choose to make it hell? Divorces are not easy. There are social, economical, offspring issues. Those, seeking divorce may live lonely for life. Of course, there are exceptions. Marriages should be of hearts, minds, souls. Not good looks or physical appearances only.

Read history. Those who are successful in life, were happily married. Failed marriages have adverse effects, on children. Those planning to marry, I recommend ‘it is better to remain unmarried than marry the wrong person’.

Those having problems in marriage, please spend time together, create respect for each other, pick good points of your mate instead of all negatives, weigh pros & cons before deciding to separate. If decide to divorce, please do not have grudges for your mate as you have married among witness of Gods, relatives, friends. Wish your partner luck when parting, try to help in need. Don’t forget that your marriage day was the best day of your life, you got a friend for life, you planned your honeymoon, celebrated anniversary (s), danced, dined, entertained guests, enjoyed the best, made a life album.

It is important to take your partner, your marriage, most seriously for making your life, the heaven.

Before marriage lovers say:

main nigahe tere chehre se hatau kaise - 2
lut gaye hosh to phir hosh mein aau kaise
mein nigahe tere chehre se hatau kaise
main nigahe..............

chharahi thi teri mehki huyi zulfon ki ghata
teri aankho ne - 2, pilaadi to mein pita hi gaya
tauba tauba tauba tauba tauba tauba..........
woh nasha hai ke batau kaise
main nigahe..............

shokh nazare ye shararat se na pas aayegi
kabhi ruthegi - 2, kabhi milke palat jayengi
tuj se nibh jayegi, nibh jayegi...
tuj se nibh jayegi mein inse nibhau kaise
main nigahe tere chehre se hatau kaise

lut gaye hosh to phir hosh mein aau kaise
mein nigahe tere chehre se hatau kaise
main nigahe..............

how can I take away my eyes off you?

I lost my senses, don’t know to get back

Your hair’s smell an the clouds they make are overwhelming

I kept on drinking the wine of your sight

I swear, I cant describe your intoxication

Your mischievous eyes will keep on playing but not come near

Sometimes angry, then ignoring and avoiding

I can understand you but cant understand them

What is emotion?

What is emotion?

Oxford says

Emotion – a strong feeling deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. Do you think only humans have emotions? No. Animals too have them but only humans can express them properly. You beat your dog, lock him, shout or cajole and you can see the reaction.

Emotions are of mainly two kinds, positive and negative causing impact on our performances and well being. All emotions have a purpose and function, directly controlled by the intelligence. Our role should be to compensate negative by positive emotions and maintain balance in our behavior and personality. Everyday, on road, metro, office, neighbor we see people arguing and fighting for small issues simply because they have no control on their emotions.

An emotionally weak person always suffers, making small happenings into huge actions. The emotional ups and downs have a cycle. Men have a cycle on the same pattern as woman have viz menstrual. Emotions are expressed by gestures, postures, faces, voice and tone modulations. Emotions directly effect our health.

Emotions can be controlled by yoga, meditation, diet, exercise, concentration, music, prayer, color therapy, crystals, reading, writing, aroma, water, dance and by medication. Emotional imbalances can make people love, jump, kiss, shout, laugh or kill.

You can blame others for imbalances of your emotions. It is you who must try to evaluate and understand your behavior to find your own ways to control your emotions, for better attitude, healthy and happy life.

Relationships! Good & Bad.

My well read, late uncle said: 3 minutes of good         company is better than 3 lives.

We learn of friendship or relationship when we are teenagers. Our fiends become our precious possessions. We find our joy, sorrow, trust, everything in them. We learn so much from these relationships. My friend, a college principal guided me when I wanted advice for my daughter to graduate, he advised for full time college campus, instead of correspondence and vocational course. In college, student matures to a person. The jokes, music, gossips, subjects discussed in canteen or under tree, teach them more than the books.

Young people get inspiration, good or bad habits, from the company they choose. Oxford says about friend “a person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive of sexual or family relations” and bout marriage “the formal union of a man and a woman, typically as recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife”.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. The way we trust our friends, we can’t do with anybody else.  Only a friend understands us.  He knows our sorrows, reasons for happiness, joks, humor, pain, and our soul. We can’t hide our feelings from expressions to a friend.  Time spent with friend is our most precious asset for life. Popularity of Orkut or Facebook is the proof. Numerous   stories, books, novels, TV serials, lyrics, songs are about friendship. A true friend is our world. Friends are many types: good, bad, best, worst, close, bosom, family, neighbor, office, metro etc.

I feel your best friend should be your parents, brothers, sisters, children and close relatives.  But that is not so. There is nothing thicker than blood.  I do not see any reason for falling relationship among brothers and sisters.  My senior in HLL told me: familiarity breeds contempt. We should know how to keep distance in various relationships.  Married people should be best friends. But that is not so in spite of intimate relationship and years spent together, caring and sharing. What goes wrong after years of staying together to getting bored, leading to hatred or divorce? Why do some people become possessive in relationship, as much as, they can’t let other person do anything own his on?

My friend, years ago, asked his wife on first night of marriage about her past, which she told. Who doesn’t have relationships in life? He could not digest and wanted to kill her. Later, I came to know that she died of gas stove burns. He re-married and had children. Later, he died in road accident.

I have wasted many years with false friends, no any more with me. I don’t wish that you, my reader, do so. Choose your friends carefully. When you meet a friend, male or female, write your impression of him/her in detail, give  points in 10 and decide  to continue or not. Friends can also be explored in person or on net. Remember, your most precious years are spent with friends. It is so painful to see breaking relationships. In true relationships there should be no room for misunderstandings, which should be clarified, as it happens. Trust can’t be 99%. It has to complete.

Do not develop relationships just because you can’t live alone. The time wasted can’t be regained.  I fail to understand why marriages break in spite of taking oath in the presence of God as witness?

A few couplets:

Dost dost na raha, pyar pyar na raha. Zindgi hume tera, aitbar na raha.  ( I lost my friend as well as my love. O life, I trust you no more).

Ye dosti hum nahi todenge, todenge dum magar tera saath na chhodenge ( we will not break our friendship. We may break breathing, but not our togetherness).

Kasme, wade, pyaar,  wafa, sub baaten hain baton ka kya. Koi kisi ka nahi hai, ye jhoote wade hain wadon ka kya ( swearings, promises, love, trust all are meaningless talks.  There are no relationships, only false and meaningless promises).

Wishing you life long friendships, relationships and marriages.

Education. Career. Life.

In Oxford Dictionary, education means: the process of giving or receiving systematic instruction especially at a school or university.

Why we need education? Because we can speak, understand, perform or earn better? Is ignorance bliss? I feel that we need education to understand, to discriminate bad from good, learn value of integrity, right from wrong, what is happening in this world and beyond.

Education should not be in classroom only. Upto high school is good enough but syllabus should change. Students must learn basics of all subjects of life, jack of all trades. From sanitation skills to astronomy, from plucking grass in fields to rocket technology. If one wishes to excel in one or more subjects he should study for 2 more years. Graduation should mean perfection in one subject.

Grades should be given book knowledge as well as physical performance. What shall one do of knowing history or arithmetic if he cant speak on dais or gets weak legs if asked to dare?

I at 56, PG Eco, can’t swim, fix the nail or electric fuse. I wish I could know the basics of daily needs. Education should eliminate envy, make us good citizens, learn at least one sport properly, be world citizens far from poverty, hatred, discrimination of color, creed, grade, caste or religion. We must know why we came to this world (Darwin’s theory is not enough). Who is God, he is or isn’t, how to know him other than reciting holy hymns?

After we have studied various subjects upto 14 or 16 years, we must choose our career, to earn our bread, we must be taught to be good friends, team mates, lovers and parents. Army like training should be compulsory. If we are educated properly we may need lesser forces to defend, or attack. We must build bridges instead of guns, generate power not nuclear arms, research to make better humans, instead better brinjals.

So many people are born without eyes, hair, brain or body parts. We who have all should a) look after these brothers, b) research to finish the disease Health and Happiness for all, world-over not in a city, state or country.

Negativity is sin. The ocean can’t sink a small ship, unless it allows water to go in. If seaman doesn’t seal in time, ship sinks. Education must teach to remove inhibitions, build confidence, optimism, health, productivity, development……….. every thing to make this world  a better place. We must add to what we got. We must pick-up what was bad and bury it. Plant a tree on it, give water and watch it grow.

90% of what we relish today is effort of only 2% of us, those who lived with no means, yet devoted their lives for our betterment. If Columbus had not traveled, proud USA would have been a village of tribal eating grass, not pizza. If Gandhi had not worked for our freedom, you would not be reading this or I writing.

Purpose of technology should be to create equal opportunity for all with preference and priority to those who have less.

We should choose the career not to generate income only but to seek solace and peace in what we like. A carpenter should earn more or less same as dentist or plumber as painter. Army does not employ outsiders, promote only from their cadre. In all fields, everybody must begin as cadet or lieutenant to reach position of Lt. General by performance, by passing various exams or achieving special skills. M.F. Hussain or Picasso did not learn their work at an institute. Most of those in history created miracles without going to school or technology centers.

Life is funny. By the time we come to know what is life, we are finished. At 56, I have yet to meet the person claiming he understands life. Zauk, the Urdu poet says:

Laayi hayaat aaye, kaza le chali chale

Apni khushi na aaye, na apni khushi chale

Behtar to hai yahi ke, na duniya se dil lage

Par kya Karen, jo kam na be dillagi chale

Duniya  ne kiska, rahe fanaa me diya hai saath

Tum bhi chale chalo, yuhin jab tak chali chale

Jaate hawa-e shouk me hain, is chaman se ‘Zauk’

Apni bala se, baad-e saba ab kabhi chale

This couplet means:

Life brought, I came, death takes away, I go

Neither I came willingly, nor I go happily

It’s better, not to involve myself with this world,

But I can t live, without sharing with my friends

Who in this world, gives you company till the end

I too will go along, as far as I can

I am going away from this garden, to the place of pleasant winds

It doesn’t matter if after me, the weather here is pleasant anymore

When you laugh, whole world laughs with you. Cry, you cry alone!

Why cry? Things do go wrong. All is not well. If everything happens the way we want, there  will be no thrill. Destiny has its role to play, God his, Nature it’s own. They all are doing their job, the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Universe, everyone.

Let us play our part. Things go wrong not because of our fault, but may be other person’s. Road accidents happen daily like this. It may be friendship, love, trust, partnership, fellowship, any relationship. Brooding over fallen milk does not help. Clean the place, boil again, to drink.

Who doesn’t make mistakes? Happiness is in our heart, mind, soul, around us. We have to make efforts to find it. We become what we feel. So many people waste precious time, months or years, crying over broken relationships or jobs or assets lost. I feel bad about them. They have not learnt that joy comes very cheap, easy. Instead of serious literature they should read funny comics, see Tom & Jerry, Mr. Bean. Humor has very important role in finding happiness.

I find my happiness, first thing in morning, in front of mirror. I make funny faces, tease, grin, laugh, talk to myself, say stupid things, sing…..just anything to feel better, even though I have my share of sadness or sorrows, daily. Mr. Agarwal, my teacher at Rau’s IAS study coaching told me this, years ago. I have learnt more from people during travel than from reading. 10,000 kms of travel teaches more than 10,000 books. God has given us the discretion. It is our fault that we choose wrong path. He created everything to make our lives comfortable.

I like Elizabeth Taylor marrying Richard Burton seven times and, divorce. At least they tried. Not everyone is lucky in relationships. May be because he or she did not weigh pros and cons when searching. There is nothing like ‘love at first sight’. If you fail or fall, get up, dust off the dirt, comb hair, wash face, smile and move on for finding different mate. Unfortunately, if you fall again, repeat this process. But, don’t cry. It is futile. Life is more important and valuable than crying.

I have spent years to find such, small, simple joys around me. I look for every opportunity to make my fellow happy. My favorite late cousin once said “ Ab bhi na ek umr mein jeene ka andaaz aaya, zindgi chhod de peechha, main baaz aaya” ( even in one life I did not learn way to live,  O life! now leave me, I am sorry.). Once he told me that I take so much pains to make others laugh that I may go to the extent of throwing boiling water on my head to make them laugh.

If you waste life brooding or not performing, when you die, meet Him face-to-face, what would you narrate about your life? Sir! I wasted whole life, please send me again. He may ask you the guarantee of performing in next life. Will you be happy then? Are you sure, because in one life you did not learn?

Life is 100% joy. No doubt there are hurdles at every stage. When my only child, my daughter was going to college, I told her, I wish your life full of roses, but it isn’t so. Life ahead is like a mountain, an ocean, full of risks and failures. You must learn to cross it with intelligence, courage, faith and humor.

Dear reader, if you have not read yet, please read Robinson Crusoe, Napolean, Alwin Toffler’s ‘ future shock’, Lala Hardayal’s ‘self culture’, Gandhi’s autobiography, Anne Frank’s Diary, see the movie ‘cast a way’. Your life is lot better. Thank your parents and God, daily, for gifting you this life, this wonderful world.

I read a story of a patient having his hospital bed near the window, explaining his fellow patient at distance about daily weather, wonderful view, the moon, sunshine, rainbow etc. After he died the fellow asked nurse to shift him near window. Finding no view, he came to know that his friend lied, only to make him happy, as he was blind. There is no better joy than giving,  sharing.

Build your own waterfall of happiness. It’s inside you.

I have very little money. Still, one by one, I will develop these businesses. A couple in Bangalore left good jobs and formed “my sunny balcony”, gardening business. Thousands of people world over, young and old, are finding innovative, home based, low capital businesses. Search on net. My favorite is “Young turks” on CNBC India. Subscribe Entrepreneur magazines, financial newspapers look for new businesses. Visit SME seminars. See newspapers ads for free invites.

It is better to do something, take wrong step, make mistake, instead of sitting idle brooding. Think! There must be a better way. Pramod Batra, top executive at Escorts India left to form Father and Son enterprise, Think INC, only for motivational slogans.

Fastest revenue comes from network marketing, but only a few are successful. Search to choose a business that suits you. Take time. Once started, pursue with full force. Any gap in enthusiasm and you lost it. Few years of dedication in initial stages will keep you happy, forever. Financial freedom should be your goal unlike many entrepreneurs who keep struggling till old age.  Once you get going, find supportive friends, relatives, venture, capitalists, banks to finance you.

Next best business is franchise. Check International Franchising Association, World Franchise council, Franchise Association of India, Retail Association of India. Read franchise and retail magazines, visit exhibitions, conferences. Numerous businesses can be franchised. First, you must build your business and brand, run one unit independently as franchise for a year with 100% heart and soul. Make ROI report, certified by CA, offer reasonable business terms, advertise in trade magazines or display classifieds in Newspapers, visit other cities, countries to expand network. Support your franchise the way you would like to be supported by your principal. It is your moral responsibility to see that your partner meets his profits, in stipulated time. With this success, go forward to build your business, pan country or international. All current world brands you see today were started small. If you do not overcome difficulties how can you call yourself “entrepreneur “. The success and pride will be all yours.

Few tips for entrepreneurs

If you are starting a business, manufacturing, trading or services, please research in details on Internet, Newspapers, Trade Magazines, Friends, Trade Fairs, Libraries, everywhere. If you are already in business, even then please follow it. After you have zeroed in, make a 5 year business plan.

Choose your investment very carefully. Put 50% of your capital money in safe custody locker, incase you fail. It is very important. After doing my business for 18 years, successfully, I failed and had no money to back me so I was forced to take up very less paid job. It took me 12 years to come back on line.

A $ save is a $ earned. Choose location, take trade marks, legal registrations. Do not take shortcuts. Build your brand step-by-step to a powerful one. Choose your company name, brand, tagline, discuss with friends or mentor (his role is very important). Take the .com domain, if not, next available, renew on time.

Choose a good website designer, use good copywriter, fonts, colors, spaces, pages, AV links. Study competition, several websites and make one which has international look and appeal. Your website is your image window to the world. If possible, make a blog with site (I took inspiration from www.mohitpawar.com/blog). Your blog will help you in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on Google ranking. Please do not adopt registry submission methods.

Make an e-mailer. Make data bank of mail IDs of CEOs of prospects.  Send many e-mailers daily. If you need help, please feel free to contact me. Permission mailing (asking recipient to mail you if he does not want your mail). Make a print mailer with branding. Courier, Internet mailing is best method but if takes time. Keep patients, hand deliver or speed post daily to select prospects with name of the head. This is sure to get better results. Choose your team very carefully. You must understand that it is not you who pays them but they bring you money.

Make your goals, short and long term. Divide into years, months, weeks, days. See that you meet the targets, Heat, rains, strikes no excuse.

Visit all trade fairs in city, country or overseas. Make your AV (put on google)/PPT presentation. Make use of Internet as much as you can. Innovate daily. Explore more economic options in all deals, purchases, logistics, manpower, advertising, branding or marketing income regularly with your team mats.

Never compromise on quality. Price is long forgotten but quality is remembered forever. Get lab testing, accreditations, certificates, endorsements. QC should be owner’s responsibility. Choose packaging, copy, colors, fonts as per your brand theme. See everything form user’s view point. Never try to fool or misbehave with buyer. He will make or break you. Study competition, regularly.

Do not make promises you can’t keep. Employ optimistic people with team enthusiasm. Trust them, do not spy. Reward the performers in front of all.  Join trade associations. Do networking, follow by SMS, Call, Emails or meetings.

Build your Personal brand. Take leadership and responsibility wherever is opportunity. Spend on media advertisements, very carefully. BTL (Below the line) demonstrative marketing are more useful.

More in next posts.

Life does not repeat

Everything in this world can be made again except our life which is one way traffic. God sent us to this world to enjoy His creation. A place where goat and lion drink water in same pool. He has created for us so many wonderful things which we can’t finish enjoying even after several lives.

Instead we preferred to choose differently. Ego, hatred, anger, envy, fear, prosperity are manmade. After so many species (84,000) we are born as human. Why let this blessing, this privilege go waste?

A moment is nothing, a minute very short, hour not very long, day sometimes long and sometimes short enough. Same for a month or an year. When I at 56 look back, it feels I just came along. It is very difficult to calculate how this happened. I have no account I can give to my Lord for the precious time he bestowed upon me. By any technology, by any means can somebody return my lost time? No. Only thing which is left for me to do is, not waste the time left with me.

Oh God! Can you deliver me one more life? This time I promise I will do no wrong, will enjoy the fruits you have provided. I promise I will prove worthy of your creation. One more time please! May be poorer than what you made me in this life, but one more time please!

Sorry. Not possible, he says.

I must rush to catch up the lost time. My body wants to rest, to relax. I worked hard to reach here, no time to sit, always running for more. When I had nothing I wanted something, when I had that I wanted more, when He gave me that, I wanted everything which He gave to nobody. Money wise, I have not much complaint. My problem is that I could not relish this world, this Nature. Because I understood the meaning of life very late.

It’s my sincere wish that anybody reading this, should wake-up, now. Do not repeat my blunder of not treating life with respect, not understanding the valuable time allotted by Him. Please do whatever you like, but value this life, in whatever form it has been given to you. One life is too short or too long, depends on how you live it.

For our survival we do not need much. He has allotted food and shelter for everybody. History has record of so many who lived with very little, yet traveled world over, with limited means. Because they had courage and wanted to take full advantage of their life.

If I can change one reader to take notice of my concern and live a meaningful, satisfactory life, I will be grateful to this blog maker.

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high…”

Thought is the source of fear. Thus, it is the conscious as well as the sub conscious mind that perpetrates fear. Tension, anxiety, stress, worry, apprehensions etc. are variants and manifestations of fear. Absence of thought means absence of fear. Attributing the origin of fear to the mind means that fear is mostly “perceived” as opposed to being real.

Fears of injury or harm to the body arise from a threat perceived in our immediate environment. For instance, if we are in a jungle there is a genuine fear of being attacked by wild animals. But even in such hazardous situations, fear can be turned into an enjoyable experience, something akin to what we call an “adrenalin rush.” Confronted with danger, the body and mind give us two equally exciting options: either to run away from danger or face it. Thus, fear helps us survive dangerous situations. The experiences of deep sea divers, hunter, trekkers and all those engaged in some adventure or another testify to the fact that fear makes them alive to any impending danger or imminent risk.

The most compelling fear however, that plagues man is the fear of future, which consists in apprehensions and anxieties about uncertain events that may unfold in the course of time and over which, we have no control. How can we overcome this fear? The answer lies in planning for the future and training our minds to live in the present. Since most of us are weighed down by the stress inbuilt in our modern lifestyles, we can take the guidance of professional consultants and counsellors to plan for contingencies that are likely to arise in the future. Such professionals can motivate us to combat fear by making us aware of the strengths and weaknesses of our personalities. They can assist us in leveraging our strengths to chart out a viable course of action. Being prepared in advance can reduce our worries.

How to prevent the intrusion of negative thoughts and images in our minds?

Just as a computer’s programming determines the output it yields, the psychological programming of our sub-conscious mind will determine the nature of our thoughts. The sub-conscious mind records our “lived experiences” that in turn impact our thought processes comprising both of positive and negative impressions/associations. Thoughts direct our actions; only a healthy positive mind can bring a substantial and enduring change in our lives. Thought is the key to transformation. One has to shed the baggage of negative accumulated experiences to make space for positive and wise thinking.
